Families, students, and staff
had a wonderful time at the school picnic.
Parents of our two youngest classes cooperated to set a festive
tone. They
decorated the yard and the front of the school and made signs.
Cloths and
table decorations could be found on every picnic table. Families
picnicked
on the lawn and partook of the desserts and drinks sold by the
middle school
8th grade, the ice cream sold by Lower Elementary Parents, and the
food
samples offered by Blue Ribbon Foods.
Students shared their talents with a large audience at the Open Mic
well
into the darkness. Students sang, told stories, rode unicycles and
skateboards, danced, and did string tricks. There were acts from
every
class. The youngest person to perform was a Pre Primary student! We
were
fortunate that so many students shared their talents!
The decorations provided by parents were put to good use following
the
picnic. Pumpkins were cooked in the Primary I class; seeds were
extracted
from squash and roasted in Primary I and II. All classes loved
having the
mums planted in pumpkins as fall decorations in their classroom. The
hay
bales were moved to the playground by the middle school students
where they
were made into a tunnel. Students moved the bales and built various
structures with them before they fell apart. The loose hay has been
built
into mounds, collected, spread out and tossed in the air! What fun!
Thanks to everyone who shared in this community event! |
