Nature’s Way Montessori School is seeking an Adolescent Community Programs Coordinator. Our Adolescent Community (AC) is composed of up to twenty 7th and 8th grade students, three full time AC guides, and multiple resource guides that provide support to the program. Our core focus is to meet the developmental needs of the adolescent with a plan for work and study that offers a variety of opportunities for self-expression, intellectual stimulation, independence, collaboration, and—ultimately—finding value in their role in the community. We offer a challenging and rigorous academic curriculum with classes in mathematics, humanities, science occupations, language arts, and Spanish. AC students utilize the NWMS Farm to develop an understanding of economic principles. We also offer self-expressions classes, community service, community work, and enrichment activities that prepare students for life beyond Nature’s Way.
The person in this position will be responsible for coordinating the various aspects of our Adolescent Community, all while maintaining the fidelity of the program and its adherence to Montessori philosophy. This includes leading a collaborative teaching team as well as teaching at least one area of curriculum.
Our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of and appreciation for adolescent social and emotional development and Montessori philosophy and has experience leading others. A bachelor’s degree is required and a Montessori credential is preferred.
