Part Time Farm Manager
Through a partnership with the neighboring Murphy Springs Farm, Nature’s Way maintains a farm plot that includes produce gardens, fruit trees and bushes, outdoor learning spaces, an active chicken coop, and beehives.
The person in this position would be responsible for guiding Adolescent Community 7th & 8th grade students in the care and management of the Nature’s Way Farm. The Farm Manager coordinates all aspects of the farm, including executing an annual planting calendar and developing programming for students to experience sustainable farming practices. This includes conducting weekly work sessions with students at the farm and collaborating with students to advertise, harvest, and sell produce as part of the Adolescent Community’s micro-economy program. They will also collaborate with staff members to connect the work of the farm to academic classes.
We are looking for someone who has experience with large produce gardens and chicken care, as well as experience working with adolescent-age students. Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated, collaborative, creative, and passionate about fostering learning experiences that can be cultivated through working with the land.
The programs at Nature’s Way Montessori School follow Dr. Maria Montessori’s educational philosophy through a carefully prepared environment, informed observation of each student’s social, emotional & cognitive growth, and work that is engaging, challenging, and satisfying.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who can begin training immediately and commence a part-time schedule over the summer months.
