Early Childhood Community Assistant (3 years-Kindergarten)  

The Early Childhood Assistant is a full-time position that will begin in the first week of August 2024. The person in this position should have a deep appreciation for, patience with, and respect for children. Our ideal candidate has experience with students this age, an interest in child development, and a desire to continually grow in their position.

The Assistant will work under the direction of a certified Montessori Lead Guide in a mixed-age classroom.  This person will work with the Lead to become knowledgeable with both Montessori and Positive Discipline terminology, philosophy, and methods.  

The person in this position will: 

  • Follow the direction of the Lead Guide during the students’ uninterrupted work period to promote a calm, productive atmosphere
  • Engage in problem-solving and planning with the Lead Guide
  • Encourage the students to be independent
  • Model appropriate manners and behaviors 
  • Assist the Lead Guide in offering students a beautifully prepared environment
  • Daily preparation and restoration of the environment including basic cleaning tasks, organizing, copying, and laminating
  • Plan and implement small groups
  • Observe with purpose during students’ work time
  • Supervise outdoor free playtime in all weather conditions
  • Mediate discussions between students
  • Help students with small animal care
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, families, and co-workers
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through workshops, conferences, webinars, book study, and staff development initiatives

Full Time Early Childhood Community Support and Extended Day Guide

We are looking for someone to work in a support role in our Early Childhood Community (ages 3-6) for the 2024-2025 school year, starting August 1st. This position includes supporting classroom guides and students during the school day as well as coordinating our Montessori Extended Day program for this age group. 

Responsibilities for this position include administrative support tasks for classroom guides; leading outdoor small group lessons and supporting individual students during their school day; providing outdoor supervision during free play; supervising nap; preparing the Extended Day classroom and planning Extended Day activities; collaborating with our Classroom Guides and Extended Day assistant to implement a high quality after school program that is consistent with Montessori and Positive Discipline. 

This person will primarily work with our Early Childhood Community, but will also provide outdoor supervision for all age groups (ages 2-13) for parts of their day and may serve as a substitute in various classrooms. Outdoor play is an important piece of our program and the ideal candidate will be comfortable outdoors in ALL types of weather for up to two and a half hours at a time. The hours for this position are 9:30 am-5:30 pm and include closing the school at the end of the day.  

We are seeking individuals who have education experience with this age group and a strong desire to uphold our school’s commitment to Montessori education and Positive Discipline. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated and use their prior experience and training to help further develop our community. 


Part-Time Early Childhood Community Support and Extended Day Assistant

We are looking for someone to work in a support role in our Early Childhood Community (ages 3-6). This position will include supervising the playground during the students’ outdoor free time, facilitating nap in the afternoons, and supervising students in our Montessori Extended Day Program. The person in this position will work closely with ECC staff members and our ECC Extended Day Guide to foster an environment that promotes a positive experience for our students. Outdoor play is an important piece of our program and the ideal candidate will be comfortable outdoors in ALL types of weather for up to two and a half hours at a time.  We are looking for someone who has experience working with children ages 3-6 and is interested in learning about Montessori and the use of Positive Discipline. The hours of the job are 12:00 am-5:30 pm and include closing the school at the end of the day.
